Sylfirm X is the world's first and only FDA-cleared pulsed wave and continuous wave radiofrequency microneedling device, designed to treat a broad range of skin concerns at both the superficial and deep dermal levels. Unlike traditional microneedling or radiofrequency devices used independently, Sylfirm X delivers precise bipolar radiofrequency energy through ultra-fine microneedles directly into the dermis — triggering controlled tissue coagulation, collagen remodeling, and neovascular stabilization without damaging the surrounding epidermis. At La Peau Dermatology, we use Sylfirm X to address conditions that have historically been difficult to treat, including rosacea, melasma, and skin laxity — making it one of the most versatile and clinically advanced devices in our practice.
What does Sylfirm X treat?
Sylfirm X is clinically indicated for a wide range of concerns, including rosacea and facial redness, melasma and pigmentation irregularities, fine lines and wrinkles, skin laxity and loss of firmness, enlarged pores, acne scarring and textural irregularities, stretch marks, and under-eye concerns including dark circles and crepey skin.
How does it work?
Sylfirm X uses two distinct energy modes — pulsed wave and continuous wave RF — which can be selected and combined based on the patient's skin concern and treatment depth. The pulsed wave mode selectively targets abnormal blood vessels and basement membrane tissue, making it particularly effective for vascular conditions like rosacea and pigmentation like melasma. The continuous wave mode delivers deeper, sustained RF energy for collagen stimulation and tissue tightening. The microneedles are fully insulated except at the tip, ensuring energy is deposited precisely at the target depth while protecting the overlying skin.
What can patients expect?
Treatment sessions typically take 45 to 60 minutes depending on the area being treated. A topical numbing cream is applied beforehand to maximize comfort. Most patients describe the sensation as mild pressure with intermittent warmth. Downtime is minimal — some redness and mild swelling for 24 to 48 hours is normal. A series of three to four sessions spaced four weeks apart is recommended for optimal results, with maintenance treatments every six to twelve months.
Is Sylfirm X right for you?
Sylfirm X is safe for all skin types, including deeper Fitzpatrick skin tones that may not be candidates for certain laser treatments. Dr. Rashid will conduct a thorough consultation to determine whether Sylfirm X is appropriate for your individual skin concerns, and will create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your goals.
